Michael Lebby presented at the 2012 Prism Awards program at the Union Square Hilton in San Francisco last night, 25-Jan-12. The Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is an international competition recognizing cutting-edge products that break conventional ideas and solve problems through photonics. The prestigious award ceremonty, known as the "Photonics Oscars", is run by SPIE and Photonics Media, and occurs each year at the Photonics West conference. Photonics West is the worlds largest photonics and laser event.
At the awards, Michael gave a speech on the potential of growth in the Green Photonics sector, as well as the impact of Green Photonics in areas that Translucent is focusing its rare earth oxide materials for GaN-on-Si (LED Solid State Lighting) and Ge-on-Si (Multijunction Cells for CPV). Michael presented the award to the winners in the category of Green photonics and sustainable energy. Congratulations to Nanoplus, who won the award this year for their mid infrared DFB lasers.
